As humans, we often think that we can outsmart judgment from others. We may try to hide our mistakes or deceive others in order to protect ourselves from being judged. However, this mindset can lead us down a dangerous path.
In the Bible, there are numerous examples of individuals who thought they could outsmart judgment but ultimately faced consequences for their actions. One such example is found in the story of Ananias and Sapphira in Acts chapter 5. They conspired together to sell a piece of property and keep some of the proceeds for themselves while pretending to give it all to the church. However, God saw through their deception and they were both struck dead.
This story serves as a reminder that we cannot hide our true intentions from God. He sees the depths of our hearts and knows when we are trying to deceive others or manipulate situations for our own gain. In Proverbs 16:2 it says, “All a person’s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the Lord.”
Furthermore, Jesus warns us in Matthew 7:1 not to judge others because we will be judged ourselves. This shows that even if we think we can outsmart judgment from man, ultimately we will face judgment from God.
So why do we continue to try and outsmart judgment? Perhaps it is because we fear being exposed or facing consequences for our actions. However, we must remember that God’s justice is perfect and ultimately it is for our own good. Trying to outsmart judgment may give us temporary relief, but in the end, it will only lead to greater consequences.
Instead of trying to outsmart judgment, we should strive to live with integrity and honesty. As Psalm 15:2 says, “Those who walk blamelessly and do what is right speak truth from their heart.” When we are truthful and honest in all areas of our lives, we can trust in God’s justice instead of fearing it.
In conclusion, thinking that we can outsmart judgment from man may seem like a tempting solution, but ultimately it will only lead to negative consequences. Let us instead strive to live with integrity and trust in God’s perfect justice instead of trying to manipulate situations for our own gain. As Proverbs 21:3 says, “To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.” So let us choose honesty over deception and trust in God’s judgment rather than trying to outsmart it. Only then can we truly find peace and true righteousness. So let us remember these examples from scripture and strive towards living a life of honesty and integrity, trusting in God’s justice above all else.
