God created us male and female for an incredible purpose. He wanted to make us in His own image and likeness, with the capacity to share in a unique experience of love and relationship (Genesis 1:27). He also wanted to bring glory to Himself through the relationships that we have with each other (Matthew 19:4-6).
As male and female, we have different gifts, strengths and weaknesses that complement each other perfectly. God made us to need and depend on one another – it is only when we come together in unity that we can truly experience the richness of our relationship with Him. Ephesians 5:31 reminds us that “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”
The design that God has for us as His creation is fearfully wonderful – He created us with the capacity for love, empathy, joy, and even sorrow. He gave us different perspectives so that we can learn from one another, be challenged in our views and beliefs, and grow closer to Him. He also gave us the capacity to experience His love through the way we relate to each other (1 John 4:7).
God created us male and female for His glory. Our differences bring out the beauty of His creation – it is only when we are united in our love for Him that we can experience true joy, peace and fulfillment. He blesses us with a unique way to learn about Himself and even more importantly, to love one another in the same way that He loves us.
We were fearfully and wonderfully made by God – what an incredible blessing! Our male and female differences should be celebrated and enjoyed, as they are part of the gift that He has given us. Let us seek to love one another in the same way that God loves us – with a perfect and unconditional love.
